Overview for today Review our accomplishments including the two accreditation sites (15 minutes) Draft mission fulfillment (15 minutes) Review assignments and next steps Q & A

What have we accomplished? What the College has done so far: Responded to Recommendation One to the Commission- 10/16 Responded to the WSQA requirement – mid October Adopted Carver Model of Governance & produced a BOT Policy Manual Identified 5 Core Themes Drafted Objectives, Indicators, Rationales & Benchmarks Aligned Policy Governance with new accreditation standards Developed an internet (public) and intranet (working) sites with resources Drafted parts of the Year One Report: Introduction, Institutional Context, Preface, Mission, Core Themes Involved all administrators intimately in new standards

What ‘s still needed: Clarity on Mission Fulfillment: Definition of Fulfillment of Mission and, Within that Definition, Interpretation of an Acceptable Threshold or Extent of Mission Fulfillment.

EXAMPLE # 2: 2.A.17 Stephen Smith Unions; VP's; Instruction; OpCom 2A. 17: The College maintains policies that clearly state its relationship to co-curricular activities for students and for the institution. Policy X #XXXXXX Title and Policy Y #XXXXXXX. There are various categories of co-curricular activities, Category I and Category II. Category I activities include……… and the roles and responsibilities of students are identified in……………….. For Category II activities, the faculty contract (pages X-Y) publishes the contracted amount of stipends associated with various co-curricular activities such as coaching for sports or advising the student newspaper, literary magazine or various clubs and student programs for music, art, film and drama. Student publications are guided by a Board of Publications and handbook.

There's a lot of work to be done! Start now. Collaborate Research: Gather the data and the resources. Start drafting, identifying live links as you go. Collaborate and get feedback.
