E-LEARNING ON EU - ADULT EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS The international project E-EdUcAtED (Project E-Learning on EU - Adult Education for Teachers) is co-financed by the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme, Grundtvig programme (AGREEMENT n° 142100-2008-LLP-1-SK-GRUNDTVIG-GMP). E-LEARNING ON EU - ADULT EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning INTRODUCTION The consortium was established to develop a teaching material on EU issues for teachers of universities, secondary schools, trainers, tutors and other staff working in education. The situation in LLL especially in “new member states” is still not satisfactory, there is difference between the capitals and the rest of the countries as for education opportunities, people are still not used to participate in LLL. Teachers are the most challenging target group when it comes to education, they play very important role in distributing of knowledge, information transferring skills, motivating people. The consortium wants through this project develop a tailored made teaching material for teachers which offers them opportunity to participate in LLL in an attractive, accessible, modern way. The course will be made in English and translated into 7 consortium languages to be accessible also for generation of teachers who did not have opportunity to learn foreign languages. Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning THE AIMS The concrete aim is through development of a teaching material (course) in an electronic form to offer to target group solution for their needs and interest in LLL. They are the “first” not only to keep their knowledge updated but also to develop it and increase, as well as obtain new modern skills. The partnership wishes to offer them an opportunity to improve their knowledge of EU issues. They have different subjects to teach, however the EU themes should be present in all of them so that awareness of European identity of citizens is increased. To make the product the most accessible as possible it will be in e-learning form. The teaching material will offer them also a possibility to choose the module in which they are interested more, the opportunity to communicate via e-portal with each other and even with their colleagues form other countries. Another challenge is to give opportunity to those who are not much experienced in IT skills to learn it or to improve it. Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning Target group The overall target group of the project result are teachers at universities, secondary schools, trainers, lecturers, tutors and other people working in education. This is an important group of people for each society and their importance has been accepted even more obviously in the Lisbon strategy and following activities. They are the ones to be first in LLL - to be able to keep their knowledge updated and to distribute it further. However especially in “new member states” the teachers do not have the status in the society as they should have, they do not have much opportunities to LLL, especially those living and working in other cities than the capital. They still do not have enough opportunities to meet their colleagues from other countries and to exchange best practices. Also financial aspect is not satisfactory. The have not enough funds supporting their LLL activities. Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning PEDAGOGICAL AND DIDACTICAL APPROACHES The starting point of the project is an interest of partners to develop the teaching material on EU issues in e-learning form for a special group active in education – teachers who have opportunity in their everyday work to make European identity present in each subject, in each school. Some of the partners have already long time cooperation in EU issues. The work on designing the teaching material will be under leadership of a partner, with the active participation of other partners who will contribute with their expertise, mainly in e-learning. For the piloting of the course a workshop will be held, as well as a conference. The feedback gained during needs analysis activities, at workshop and in conference will be reflected in the final version of the teaching material. Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning PRODUCTS The product of this project will be a teaching material in an electronic form for teachers, tutors, trainers and other people working in education. The text of teaching material will be written by experts from organisations extensively experienced in EU topics and adapted into electronic form – again by very experienced experts and after exchanging the best practices of partners. The material will contain information about: history milestones of the EU functioning (institutions, decision making and legal system of the EU, common policies) trends (presently discussed topics) future of the EU (plans, proposals). Then there will be choice of additional modules such as agricultural, 2nd pillar of the EU, 3rd pillar of the EU, ITC development and others, which will be available for teachers according to their field of expertise or interest. Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning

Romanian Society for Lifelong Learning Results The course will have length of 3 months what is according to our experience the most suitable length.   The partial outputs will be a deep need analysis conducted in 7 countries at sample of app 50 persons in each, the workshop to test the part of course at sample of target group, the international conference presenting the project and its result, giving space to all interested and relevant people to exchange their views and to asses the contribution of the project.
