Speaking and Listening Things which irritate me Things I dislike Issues I feel angry about Issues which interest me People talking when I am talking Liars Treatment of refugees Mental illness Not being able to find something good on telly Olives Donald Trump The obesity crisis Clothes that touch my neck Traffic jams People who bully The ‘me too’ movement Attention seekers on Facebook Pass – Attempt to order and structure presentation and attempt to meet needs of audience. Merit – Order and structure presentation clearly and achieve purpose of presentation. Distinction – Use a range of strategies to order and structure presentation and achieve purpose of presentation.

Speaking and Listening When your table is complete I would like you to write me a paragraph on each of your topics. Why do you get wound up by these things or why do they interest you? Pass – Attempt to order and structure presentation and attempt to meet needs of audience. Merit – Order and structure presentation clearly and achieve purpose of presentation. Distinction – Use a range of strategies to order and structure presentation and achieve purpose of presentation.

Speaking and Listening I can’t bear olives and I can’t understand why anyone would like them. The first time I tried an olive, I just couldn’t believe that anyone would think that slimy texture and peculiar flavour was edible. I wanted to spit it straight out but I was on a French exchange so had to be polite and find a way to swallow the hideous ball of slime without openly gagging. The worst thing is that I can’t order some of my favourite foods in restaurants out of fear that someone will have smuggled some of those evil repulsive nuggets of nastiness into them. Pizza, pasta, salad, even sandwiches have all been defiled by people thinking olives would improve their flavour, when in fact they are like small grenades spreading disgustingness through perfectly nice food. Pass – Attempt to order and structure presentation and attempt to meet needs of audience. Merit – Order and structure presentation clearly and achieve purpose of presentation. Distinction – Use a range of strategies to order and structure presentation and achieve purpose of presentation.

Speaking and Listening For homework research your chosen topic and write your cue cards. We will be recording these Speaking and Listening Assessments on Tuesday 18th July 2018 Write down ten questions that you would like to find the answers to. Eg: What are the statistics around obesity? (how many people in the UK are overweight etc..) How have eating habits changed in this country? What do people say about the reasons for obesity? What personal accounts of experiences with obesity can I find? Who is guilty of ‘fat-shaming’? Are there any arguments in favour of fat-shaming? Pass – Attempt to order and structure presentation and attempt to meet needs of audience. Merit – Order and structure presentation clearly and achieve purpose of presentation. Distinction – Use a range of strategies to order and structure presentation and achieve purpose of presentation.
