Youth In Emergency Preparedness Camp June 18-22, 2017 Help us prepare the future in Emergency Preparedness in the Rio Grande Valley! TEAM APPLICATION NOW AVAILABLE! The Weslaco Fire Department and the Rio Grande Valley Medical Reserve Corps are currently accepting applications for the 2016 Youth Preparedness Camp. Our organization with be providing scholarships to 10 teams of 10 individuals ( 9 youth between 14-18 and 1 adult) to attend camp. Scholarships include camp fees, lodging and meals and training materials. The only cost to teams will be transportation to and from the camp. The training will be located in Weslaco, TX. WHAT WILL I DO AT CAMP? Complete a 20-hour basic Community Emergency Response Team( CERT) training. Engage in community action planning as a team. Receive leadership training. Have one of the most exciting weeks of Summer!!! REQUIRED TRAINING PRIOR TO THE EVENT: We will have a short orientation for adults at the Weslaco Public Library Auditorium, 525 S. Kansas St. Weslaco, Texas on May 24th, 2017 at 6:00pm-7:00pm. This orientation will be MANDATORY. WHERE TO SIGN-UP: Applications available online at www.rgvyouthpreparedness.com .
