The usted and ustedes commands, like the negative tú commands, are formed by dropping the final -o of the yo form of the present tense and adding the OPPOSITE vowel endings. For -ar verbs, add -e or -en. For -er and -ir verbs, add -a or -an.

Verbs with irregular yo forms maintain the same irregularity in their formal commands. These verbs include conducer to drive conduzco, conocer to know conozco, decir to say or to tell digo, hacer to do/make hago, ofrecer to offer ofrezco, oír to hear oigo, poner to place/put pongo, salir to leave/go out salgo, tener to have tengo, traducir translate traduzco, traer to bring traigo, venir to come vengo, and ver to see/watch veo. © by Vista Higher Learning, Inc.
