What is IB Math SL ? International Baccalaureate Mathematics Standard Level (Calculus) - part of International Diploma Programme Sequenced after successful completion of Precalculus-Statistics course Recognized by colleges on the level of AP courses
IB Math SL credit accepted by – University of Florida Georgia Tech University of Missouri Texas Tech University University of North Texas University of Georgia Rochester Institute of Technology* Temple University University of Colorado Springs Oregon State University University of Maryland The Mason University Etc.
Specifics of the Course It is concentrated on exploration of concepts of differential and integral calculus. Previously learned concepts will be reviewed: Linear, quadratics, inverse, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic (analytic and graphic approaches); sequences and series All trigonometric functions (analytic and graphic approaches) Vectors - 2D, 3D, applications Statistics and probability Course includes an Exploration Paper on the topic of one’s choice (Internal Assessment) and two IB Assessment papers (External Assessment).

Grading Policy Handbook – MCVSD Grading Policy Course Specific Primary Assessments (tests, projects, problem sets) – 60% Secondary Assessments (quizzes, problem sets) – 30% Other Assessment (homework, classwork) – 10% Late work / missing assignments are accepted as per district policy – 10% grade reduction per calendar day Course Specific External Assessment Internal Assessment (Exploration) 80%: Paper 1 – 40% 20% Paper 2 – 40%
Daily assignments Homework Assigned every night Will be checked and all questions addressed every day Minor & Major assessments and assignments dates are posted in “Calendar of Assessments” on my Wiki
Extra Help – Office Hours Offered during lunch at least 2 times a week Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Friday in rm 218 Also by an appointment – per student request Mandatory if grade is below a 77 (Pupil Improvement Plan will be implemented)
