3rd Grade Class Mrs. Rasala’s Mrs. Rasala Newsletter A Note from the Teacher Week of 9/12 – 9/16 We are excited to start the Multiplication Masters competition in 3R next week! Students will visit the Multiplication Station during Math Centers, and practice their facts using various activities and strategies. Students will work their way through 1 - 12 facts, and for each level they test and score 100% on, they will get to move their clip on our board. After they’ve mastered all the facts (1 -12) they will become a Multiplication Master. What’s Happening in... Reading: We will be reading the Lesson 4 story in our weekly reader titled “All Aboard.” We will continue working on asking and answering questions while reading. The essential question we will explore is “How can problem solving lead to new ideas?” Language Arts: We will continue to work on subjects & predicates of sentences. Also differentiating between simple, compound, and complex sentences. Spelling: Lesson 4. Reminder: Lists are on the back of the newsletters, and in your 3rd grader’s Green Folder (on Monday). Math: We will review all the multiplication strategies we’ve learned so far, and begin the Multiplication Masters competition. Social Studies: We will learn how to use different types of maps. Announcements Logins for the online Reading & Math textbooks and resources will be sent home this week. Stay tuned to hear about our classroom website coming soon! As we move further into the year, more homework will be assigned (besides reading for 20 minutes). This will be posted on our website, as well as other class information.
