You will pair up with a partner to review the latitude and longitude terms from the flashcards function on Quizlet. Once you finish reviewing the flashcards, you will play the matching game function on Quizlet to assess what you have learned so far. AUGMENTATION 6th grade – Unit 1 Formative Performance Task 2 Topic: How can using latitude and longitude help people? Description of Formative Performance Task: You will review geography terms such as longitude and latitude using Kahoot. Steps: You will log on to the laptop or iPad. You will open the Kahoot app on the iPad or go to kahoot.it on the laptop. You will put in Game Pin from the board. You will then create a school-appropriate nickname to use for Kahoot. You will read the questions from the board and click on the corresponding answer. You will be awarded points based on accuracy and speed. MODIFICATION 6th grade – Unit 1 Summative Performance Task 3 MODIFICATION Topic: How can using latitude and longitude help people? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will review over the concepts of latitude and longitude by watching a Flocabulary video and by creating a quiz about latitude and longitude. Steps: We will watch the Flocabulary video on latitude and longitude. Once we finish watching the video, you will need to get a laptop and log in. You will go to the teacher’s Blackboard site and click on Google Slides and pick up a number from the teacher. That number will be your slide. You will create a question from the video we watched today using one of the 12 Powerful Words. Make sure that you type that question in the slide that you’ve been assigned. Once you’ve created your question, please go back and underline the Powerful word that you used. Once everyone is finished, the teacher will tell you when to Stand Up, Hand Up, and Pair Up. After pairing up, students will exchange their number with their partner. Partners will split up and go back to your own desk. You will now go to that slide and answer their question. REDEFINITION 6th grade – Unit 1 Summative Performance Task 4 REDEFINITION Topic: How can using latitude and longitude help people? Description of Summative Performance Task: You will create a multimedia presentation based on information learned about latitude and longitude. Steps: Pretend that you are a world-famous geographer. You will create a report over latitude and longitude. You will write a brief report explaining what latitude and longitude are and how they are helpful to people today. Your report will need to be at least 2 paragraphs. You will log on to a laptop and open up a new Microsoft Word document. Type out your two paragraphs about latitude and longitude and how they can help people. After you’ve completed typing, you will need an iPad to create a video broadcast of your report. You will open the Shadow Puppet app to complete this section. Click on “Create New” to start a new video project. Under “Education Search” go through each tap and search for the various vocabulary terms discussed such as latitude, longitude, equator, prime meridian, etc. Once you’ve found an image you like, click on it and it will load into the folder. Once you’ve selected the images that you will need, click on “Next.” BEFORE you start recording yourself reading your report, please know that as you record your voice, you can also click on the arrows to move to the next image as you are recording. Once you’re done recording, click “Pause” and “Save” once all of your recording is completed. Click on the “Seesaw” to submit the video. Click on “I Am A Student” and scan the QR code to submit your broadcast. You will then find a student’s video from the other class and comment 1 positive aspect of video and 1 thing they might need to improve on.
