The History of Photosynthesis

In your journal… In the notes section: Spend 3 minutes writing all that you know or can remember about photosynthesis.

First Investigations Scientists first asked… How do plants increase in mass? In order to investigate this… Measured the mass of the soil, planted a seedling, watched it grow for five years. Mass of soil did not change but plant mass increased

What do plants release? Scientists stumbled upon this discovery through the experiment described below: Lit Candle placed under a jar goes out. But lit candle placed under a jar with a plant stays lit… In your journals answer… Why does this happen?

So it was determined that… Plants must release a substance necessary to sustain a flame and for living creatures to survive. In your journals answer… Today we know that plants release???

Scientists took it one step further… They discovered that… Aquatic plants release gas bubbles when exposed to light but do not release gas bubbles in the dark. In your journals answer… Why do you think this would this be the case?
