Member and Geographic Activities Repositioning membership development strategy across Asia A regional geo-strategy to stimulate membership growth and retention in China was implemented in 2011. Plans to implement a similar plan in India & Japan in 2012. Evaluating other regional targets of opportunity in Asia market. Establishing a regional base in Singapore to support the contact center in their globalization to improve responsiveness to members in local time zones 12/31/2018

Continuing Education Current IEEE Efforts Challenges Two-day Technical English Workshop in collaboration with NTUC Learning Hub, with potential funding from WDA Identifying key industries annd local partners to collaborate with. Understanding customer requirements and gaining a commitment for product development that will deliver tangible and quantifiable ROI Determining business model for a more customized content model Need to be more agile to meet local partners’/customers’ expectations 12/31/2018

2012 Outcomes Implementation of a regional geo-strategy for membership development in India working collaboratively with the India office A completed assessment of IEEE’s opportunity to develop and test valued continuing education products in Singapore, along with a corresponding business model to scale the successful products Identify priority countries with emerging economies, timely for increased IEEE focus and investment 12/31/2018

Singapore Operations Beyond 2012 Singapore’s central location in Asia offers IEEE a number of opportunities Development of new, high quality technical conferences and events in Singapore to serve the region’s technical professionals Serving identified emerging market countries in the region where establishing a local in-country presence may not be required Standards education and outreach Member engagement in humanitarian and other social enterprise activities across the region 12/31/2018
