Unit 8 Environment By Luke Wightman

The Year So Far This year I have learned a lot like being self efficient and my organisation skills have improved a lot. I also have enjoyed the tasks we are given, for example all the units have had a wide range of different aspects which I like doing something different every day.

The Brief The key word for this Unit 8 is Environment. The whole unit is based around this word and things that link with it like, nature, urban landscapes. We where asked to make a final piece of something linking in with the theme environment.

Experimentation Tasks We have done quite a lot of these. This is some screenshots of the tasks we have done:

Inspirational Artists Digital Does- Graffiti artist with a awesome grimy style. Always good use of colours and details. Second one is a small artist called Etor which again is a graffiti artist but does most of his work on stickers.

Workshop Weeks Here I will go into more detail about the workshop lessons: Paint tutorial- for me paint is a new thing, I don’t really use it with a brush and I don’t really know the effects of how to use paint in a clean way.

Workshop Weeks 2 We had focused on photography for this and easy simple ways to make a photo look better. So we used the iPad to take pictures of random objects.

Workshop Week 3 This lesson we went into the ceramics room and made a head sculpture. I made mine based off my imagination… Might have been a mistake. But then I drew from it and sketched it out.

Development Samples This is the build up ideas for our FMP. We had to make 3 development pieces which all involve different techniques. For the first one I made was just a graffiti piece that I made with watercolour. I used a wide colour pallet and a black fine liner to outline it.

Second Development Piece Secondly I made a paper cut which was a building which was decaying and had graffiti on the side. But I made a little small cuts in it which had shown the detail. I feel like this one was the hardest one because it took the longest.

Third Development Piece Lastly I had made a couple of these at the end but I had got a image off the internet which was a piece of Digital Does’es art work. But I traced it with tracing paper then scanned it in and changed the colours.

My final Piece So for my final piece I had made an A3 sized piece of watercolour paper which I drew a big building that is decaying and falling apart then I put one of my own pieces on it right in the centre to catch peoples eye.

Reflection For my FMP I have learned how to handle time and how to deal with obstacles. I have really enjoyed making art in my style. I also would like to improve some on the work. I feel like I need to make the lines cleaner. I also would like to take a bit more time on the drawing the building. Because I feel like I am not as strong on drawing than anything else.
