Complaint drivers and mitigation Genuine unawareness – Conflict of interest (CoI) law, policy or procedure Induction, training, case studies, understanding of real and perceived Consequences Wilful blindness – not wanting to see a CoI Clear process, not lip service, to assess the agenda Identify real and perceived CoI Transparent process to deal with them Self interest – complete disregard Declaration of interests Combination of the first two and promote a culture of high integrity
