Decolonization Definition: Decolonization is the process of becoming free of colonial status and achieving statehood. Between WW1 & WW2, movements for independence begun in Africa. The idea of dominating the African continent seemed to not- align with Allied countries goals during WW2. (Fighting off Hitler and his expansion). African countries began to call for self-rule and independence. Many European countries were reluctant to let go, but it time through peace/wars the African countries slowly gained control and claimed independence for themselves.
