Current position 16000 birth per year 3 Maternity Units Lack of a single electronic Maternity record Large duplication of data entry in both paper records and electronic systems Different sites have different processes
Our New System… Designed as a paperless end to end Maternity system Will record the pregnancy from booking appointment right through to post-natal home visits Fully supports care pathway management to provide flow between care plans, assessments, reports, management plans Supports our move away from paper processes In use in 7 other Scottish Health Boards
Additional Features Native iPad app for clinical use as well as desktop version Patient Portal Planned interfaces to strategic systems – demographics, test results, etc Data entered once and then shared Comprehensive reporting suite as well potential link to GGC BI Repository (Ref: Business Intelligence Presentation)
Referrals from Maternity Services Referral and follow-up letter to patients GP’s Internal or external clinical specialist Social Work Internal or external agencies including Parental Support and Domestic Violence referrals Handover to Health Visitor Electronic transfers from system are supported (Ref: SCI Gateway Presentation)
GIRFEC Fully comprehensive GIRFEC Assessment screens Records and scores all GIRFEC Strengths and Risks assessments on at least 3 occasions over the pregnancy and can report the chronology of the events Electronic document transfers from the system are supported (ref:SCI Gateway Presentation)
Project Timeline Contracts still being finalised Programme Board in place Project Governance agreed and Project team identified April 2017 target for Project initiation Go Live within 12 months
Benefits Realisation Single electronic maternity record Integrated with other GG&C strategic systems to form part of patient electronic record Single way of working for all sites in GG&C Reducing paper records and duplication of data entry and effort Potential to be able to access and share maternity records from other Boards – e.g NHS Lanarkshire Single Scottish Maternity system?
