Sweet Like Chocolate Prehistoric Park Powerful Pow Wow Themes for Year 3 Sweet Like Chocolate Prehistoric Park Powerful Pow Wow

Themes for the year Sweet Like Chocolate Throughout the term, children will be learning skills and knowledge they will use to create their Fairtrade Cafe. Parents will be invited to attend the Fairtrade Cafe. Letters with dates will be sent out soon.

Themes for the year Prehistoric Park A particular favourite with the children! Children will take on the role of a palaeontologist and will be learning about dinosaurs. They will finish this theme with a presentation about what they have learnt.

Themes for the year Powerful Pow Wow! Children will be taking on the role of a Native American Indian. It will begin with a council meeting which will raise concerns about the migration of the Europeans. They will then prepare a meeting with the Europeans about the way they affect the environment and their traditional way of life. There will be a presentation at the end of term for parents and visitors to attend. This allows the children to showcase their work.

Dojo We are continuing to use Dojo as a tool to keep in contact with parents. Please feel free to send us messages via the app. Any urgent messages need to be given directly to the class teacher. The reading record should be completed 5 times a week by your child or yourself, to track their reading and book review sheets and recommendation sheets can be collected from class.

Homework Children need to learn their weekly spellings and mark their progress of the year ¾ words in their reading records. We expect every child to be reading each night if possible. Term 2 – DT project.

School uniform Runwell Community Primary School colours are royal blue, white and grey/black. We pride ourselves on our smart appearance and are grateful to parents and carers for ensuring uniform rules are followed. The uniform requirements are: Black or grey trousers/skirt. White polo shirt or shirt. A royal blue sweatshirt, fleece or cardigan (these can be purchased from Emblem in the town with the school logo). Black shoes or black trainer shoes. Boots are only to be worn if it is really cold and they need to be flat. Sandals / flip flops are not suitable. No jewellery is to be worn except a watch and small stud earrings. Nail varnish should not be worn. Long hair must be tied back.

P.E. Kits Please provide your child with the following items. Plain T shirt in your child’s merit group colour. Football shirts must not be worn Black/Navy Shorts Trainers (for outside and inside use) Plimsolls or bare feet for gymnastics It is recommended that warm clothes (sweatshirt/tracksuit trousers) are available for use in colder months for when the children go outside for PE. There are no requirements for these to be a particular colour or style, however they need to be plain and preferably dark in colour. Please ensure that P.E. kits are left in school at all times.

Out of school trips We will be visiting the Natural History Museum during the spring term (exact date to be confirmed).

We welcome your questions and suggestions
