LITTLE CAPITAL OF THE NORTH MAZOVIAN REGION

Ciechanów is situated in central Poland, not far from the capital, Warsaw.

The crest of Ciechanów shows Saint Peter. The founder of Ciechanów was supposedly Ciechan, a legendary pagan duke, knight or steward.

Town Hall – the seat of municipal authorities.

Farska Góra – a cradle of Ciechanów. It is the place where a Parish Church erected along with neo-gothic belfry.

The Castle of Mazovian Dukes is the most impressive monument in Ciechanów. The castle was built in the bend of the Łydynia River. The castle in Ciechanów has been the inspiration for many writers, poets and artists.

Ciechanów is a well-known cultural center famous for its cyclic outdoor events. Those who love theatre have the chance to take part in Djonizje – all-Polish Theatrical Festival.

Every year Ciechanów is the home of International Folklore Meetings Kupalnocaka.

Knights Tournament – ladies and knights of many brotherhoods come to the Castle of Mazovian Dukes all wearing replicas of latest-fashion 13th century clothes.

Return of Light Cavalrymen – a historical outdoor performance. Every year lovers of Napoleon epoch prepare a historical performance from the time of Napoleon wars.

Time to relax. Ciechanów is located within the zone Green Lungs of Poland. The land shows outstanding natural advantages and fulfills different important ecological functions.
