Welcome to the Bridge Project

What is the Bridge Project It is a week’s induction to inform, advise and offer assistance, to help you, when you are ready, to cross from where you are now to where you would like to be. It will hopefully raise your self-awareness which will be the basis for the beginning of your personal learning journey.

Attendance- is everyday, only authorised absence allowed Attendance- is everyday, only authorised absence allowed. No attendance-no pay Morning Afternoon Monday 9am-11.30am 2pm-4pm Tuesday 9am-11.30am Wednesday 9am-11.30am Thursday 9am-11.30am Friday 9am-11.30am closed

Don’t know where I am going? I’m alright but what else is there! “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got!”! Bear these words in mind when thinking about your learning journey!

The start of your journey We like to know where you are now so we can help you develop. For the first 2 days you will be assessed for your literacy, numeracy, ICT, learning style and social skills.

What happens for the rest of the week? 1.CIAS – Careers Information Advice Service- Brian Metcalfe CIAS advisor will discuss education and work options in a group session and offer individual advice in adult direction to help with your choices, whilst in custody and ready for release. This is independent advice from A4e. You will be informed of your timetable on Friday following the allocation board

What happens for the rest of the week What happens for the rest of the week?- Employability for home and work! Employability Skills= skills other than qualifications that make you employable and help you personally develop. 2. We will look at where you are now and how to move forward. This will be undertaken through group work and discussion. 3. We will look at action planning and goal setting, how can you help yourself and how to get support

Seriously! think about it! “If what you are doing is not working, do something different!” So simple and yet we don’t always modify our behaviour. It is a lot easier wandering through life wishing change on other people…………and thinking horrible thoughts about someone else!!!!!

Individuals have all the resources they need to achieve their desired outcomes! This is a positive statement! It means everyone has the potential to develop and grow. You may not have all the internal resources to do this but you can acquire them

Individuals have all the resources they need to achieve their desired outcomes! Behaving badly doesn’t necessarily make a bad person! Developing capabilities and skills to move to a more favourable environment can often change someone’s behaviour dramatically and propel them to new levels of excellence.

Moving on from the Bridge? We hope to look at your beliefs about your capabilities, to help you to change them to assist you to become a very valuable contributor to society. To have a successful future that is crime free and to be happy with yourself. Good Luck and hope you have a positive learning journey at Low Newton & beyond!
