Irrigation Intro Video (Action Movie) (very exciting)

Types of Irrigation Flood irrigation: 60% efficient Capture and reuse could catch the runoff in a pond and pump it back our to irrigate again.

Spray irrigation: ~65 % efficient (Getting better!) lose water by evaporation/wind LEPA: ~95% efficient low energy precision application, High pressure sprinkler

Center-pivot: ~80-95% efficient Drip irrigation: ~90-95% efficient low pressure spray that moves in a circle Drip irrigation: ~90-95% efficient pipes with holes, water goes to roots, less salinization Drawback: Expensive to install!!!

Other good ideas: Soil moisture detectors Mulching (Helps with water retention) Growing deep root plants Import water intensive crops/meat Line irrigation canals and ditches Plastic covers over plants. Why? Xeriscaping: Use native vegetation or stones to decorate yard reduces need for extra irrigation Treat waste water for irrigation: gray water
