TDES: Polishing Practice April 12, 15 and 16, 2013

Today we will learn. . . How to assure that evidence matches rubric assessment How to arrive at a final composite rating The nature of evidence for paraprofessional assessment

1. Evidence and Rubric Match Words chosen in the rubric MUST match back to the evidence collected. Decide whether the ratings indicated match the evidence.

The Composite: Just for Fun Rate your faculty’s performance on each of the components of the framework Consider current, typical practice

2. The Composite Teacher reviews 5 touches Teacher marks composite form, sends to principal: ATTAINMENT Principal indicates components of agreement. Components for discussion are completed in conference with teacher Principal marks overall rating: PREPONDRANCE

ATTAINMENT Trajectory Growth Resulting level of performance: current, typical NOT an average!!!!! Ineffective in October/Proficient in May: What’s the attainment? ----- Meeting Notes (4/15/13 10:27) ----- Adjust the composite so that the princiapl has to justify the reason. Consider that the "A" rating must not include any "D".

PREPONDRANCE Majority Informed by power components

3. Paraprofessional Assessment All specialist rubrics were written by groups of those specialists, not by the Danielson Group Each specialist group was asked to model their rubric format after the CMSD teacher rubric.

Accomplished Examples What would an outstanding paraprofessional tell you (facts) and show you (artifacts) that would convince you that s/he is at the accomplished level in your assigned component?

Walk-Through? Most D2/D3 “touches” (second touch) for paraprofessionals should include, but not be limited to, a walk-through observation.

Today we will learn. . . How to assure that evidence matches rubric assessment How to arrive at a final composite rating The nature of evidence for paraprofessional assessment
