Standardization activities on NGN in CCSA DOCUMENT #: GSC13-GTSC6-14 FOR: Presentation or Information SOURCE: CCSA AGENDA ITEM: GTSC6; 4.1 CONTACT(S): Liuduo@mail.ritt.com.cn Standardization activities on NGN in CCSA CCSA Submission Date: July 1, 2008

Highlight of Current Activities (1) At NGN core network aspect, Up to now, CCSA has nearly completed specifications related to 3GPP R6, now it’s working on the specifications based on 3GPP R7 & R8,and TISPAN R1&R2, ITU-T R1&R2 Currently CCSA has started to focus on Phase 3 of unified IMS(equipment specification; Protocol & etc.) Recently work: Unified IMS aspect Terminal: some terminal specifications related to services Requirements and architecture: three specifications have just completed Protocols: just initiated SIP specifications in IMS Services: Presence/PoC/Identification Presentation and Restriction/Call forwarding/IP Centrex/PES&PSS&multimedia requirements have been completed Equipments-CSCF,I/S-CSCF,HSS of unified IMS just initiated Interworking: SIP&BICC interworking, IMS interworks with other network between different operators

Highlight of Current Activities (2) Recently completed work: (Con.) Transport control aspect NASS: one YDC has completed RACS: one TR has completed Security aspect UNI&NNI security requirement have been completed One TR started: Unified IMS security requirements NGN based IPTV aspect IMS based IPTV&Non-IMS based IPTV: One TR is progressing Note: lots of non NGN-based IPTV have been completed or ongoing Home Network aspect 13 documents are completed, including Home Network General requirements, Home Network Gateway Working closely with other SDOs. Based on technical research and developed specifications, CCSA or members of CCSA have presented lots of contribution to SDOs, such as ITU-T, 3GPP, 3GPP2, OMA, DSL Forum, etc.

Strategic Direction Continue to develop technical and test specifications of NGN in CCSA Recently initiated five new specifications of unified IMS other specifications may be initiated later Based on the newest specification in the worldwide Develop and motivate the research in new technical domain three UC(Unified Communications) documents have been initiated Other topic are being considered Continue coordination and collaboration, take part in the relevant activities and meetings, establish smooth relationship with other SDOs Share CCSA view Being involved and give contributions

Challenges Convergence of telecommunication and internet Convergence of IMS and Web services Service creation, management, service delivery platform, etc. Convergence of Multimedia and streaming Media Interworking with legacy IPTV Interoperation and interworking with different PAN or LAN Capabilities supporting Home network and Business network Capabilities supporting the requirement of information society Capability to support wireless and wired technical Mobility and Nomadic Access control Location, etc Unified user Data integrity of data distributed in versatile applications Application of P2P technology in telecommunication network

Next Steps/Actions Complete the series of NGN specification Such as Protocols, Service, equipment, etc Including technical specification and test specification Keep up with new technique and new requirements, the relevant other HIS are probably as following: FMC UN(Ubiquitous Network) UC(Unified communication) or ICT IDM P2P application in NGN Service or service capabilities convergence of internet and telecommunication Continue to work cooperatively with external organizations
