Drafted in 1969 Enacted in 1970 National Law Function: Promotes environmental enhancements and established the CEQ, which develops environmental and energy policies and initiatives

Environmental Issues Affected: Stopped the Atomic Energy Commission nuclear licensing process, held up outer Continental Shelf oil drilling, and closed controversy over the Alaska Oil Pipeline until they finished an environmental impact statement
