Math 432: History and Philosophy of Math and Math Education (4 credits) Explore the nature of mathematics and the teaching and learning of mathematics. Visit Albanian schools and compare mathematics teaching across cultures. Study historic mathematics and classic proofs Visit sites related to the history and philosophy of mathematics

Where Do We Go?

What Will We Do? Four days of class at UW Oshkosh (May 20-23). Three week trip to Albania and Greece (May 24- June 15). Two Weeks in Albania, One week in Greece Eight mostly academic days in Tirana, Albania hosted by Beder University Class discussions led by UWO faculty Partner with Math Ed students at Beder Visit math education class at Beder Field trips to local schools Give a math lesson to Albanian students Twelve mostly cultural and historical tourism days in Albania and Greece: Mountains, Beaches, Communist History, Ottoman Castles, Orthodox Monasteries, Roman and Greek Ancient Sites

When and How Much? Estimated total trip cost (tuition, airfare, hotel, tours, transportation, many meals): $4500 Financial Aid is Available. Application deadline January, 2019.
