Britton’s and Wilson’s BREAKING NEWSletter January 17th-20th ELA:  We are going to read a nonfiction text titled Morning Meals Around the World. We are going to proofreading our second drafts of our fiction stories. In grammar, our skill for the week is verbs, adverbs, and commas. Vocabulary: Customary: “usual or normal or happening regularly.” Energize: “give energy or strength.” Appetizing: “tasty or good to eat.” Plain: “without anything added or without decoration.” If something is plain, it is simple, not fancy. Plain also means a “large area of flat land.” Differ: “is different.” Refreshing: If something is refreshing, it makes you feel fresh (lively or not tired) and strong again. Math: Our math skill this week is identifying fractions. Announcements: Yearbooks are on sale for $35. Get yours now. Yearbook signing party at the end of the year. I can visualize from a passage. I can ask and answer questions about a passage. I can reread for information. I can recognize a pronoun. Test Dates: Math: No Tests this week. ELA: Week 17/18 Vocabulary Quiz is on Friday, January 20th Please encourage your child to practice skills on mobymax.com as much as possible! Math Homework Mon. – Review Practice page Tues.- Review Practice page Wed.- Review Practice page Thurs. – Review Practice page Be sure to encourage your child to read each night. They should be reading at least 20 minutes. Ask your child about what they are reading and what is happening in their book. They love to share their reading knowledge with you!
