Photography One Traci Reitz, CCA. What is depth of field? Depth of Field is the amount of a photograph which is in acceptably sharp focus from the foreground.
Lenses Are classified by their Focal Length. The distance from the optical center of a lens to the front surface of the imaging device.
A short depth of field is focused in the foreground, but is out of focus in the immediate background. There is no middle-ground. The aperture is wide.

Presentation transcript:

Depth Of Field (DOF)

1.Distance to Subject (Closer =Less) The 4 Controls of DOF 1.Distance to Subject (Closer =Less) 2. Focal length of Lens ( Larger= Less) 3. f-stop ( smaller f stop # =Less) 4.Sensor size ( Larger = Less)

Limit depth of field to emphasizes subject and simplify image . Shot with 200mm lens at f-stop 2.8

Closer to Subject = Less DOF Shot with 85mm lens @ f 5.6

Further from subject + Wide angle lens = greater DOF Shot at 28mm Lens @ f2.8

Small Aperture = Large DOF Shot at 60 mm Lens @ f 16
