Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)

Organic Farming through PKVY Organic Agriculture is production of agricultural products free from chemicals and pesticides residues by adopting eco-friendly low cost technologies. “Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana” is an elaborated component of Soil Health Management (SHM) of major programme National Mission of Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). Under PKVY, Organic farming is promoted through adoption of village by Cluster Approach and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) certification .

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) It is a Cluster based programme Mobilisation of Farmers- 50 or more farmers in a cluster of 50 acre land to take up the organic farming In three years 10,000 clusters will be formed covering 5.0 lakh acre area No liability on the farmers for expenditure on certification Contd..

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) Every farmer will be provided an assistance of Rs. 20,000 per acre in three years for seed to the market Use of Agril Inputs through traditional resources Aims to target domestic market Under PKVY 2015-16, Rs.300 crore has been allocated. Contd..

Fund allocation Criteria Allocation of funds of PKVY is based on: 40% weightage of cultivable land 40% operational holdings of Small & Marginal farmers 10% weightage on area under certified organic farming cultivation (except wild harvest which contributes 1% to total organic production) 10% weightage on declaration of the State to go organic along with a work plan

Expected Outcome The Scheme envisages: Promotion of organic production through PGS Pesticide residue free Produce and will contribute to improved health of the consumer Increased income of Farmers’ and create potential market for traders Motivating the farmers for natural resource mobilization for input production It will help in building long-term trust with farming community

Relaxing Norms of Contiguity of 50 Acres for ISSUES/ CHALNGES Relaxing Norms of Contiguity of 50 Acres for Assistance- Proposed be extended to Rs 50000/- per ha per farmer from next year Input Mobilisation- Seeds, Botanical Inputs, Bio-fertilisers, Bio- Pesticides etc Development of Package of Practices & Validation- by SAU/KVKs/State Govt Making PGS Optional for States involved in 3rd Party Certification
