Who is FMCSA? What do they do? Chris Luebbert: State Programs Specialist FMCSA - Missouri Division Office

Our Vision The Agency has adopted a vision for the future that moves towards zero CMV crashes, injuries and fatalities.

Role of Commercial Motor Vehicles US Freight Movement: Role of Commercial Motor Vehicles

Industry Facts: Carriers/Companies: Over 551,000 (regulated) CMV’s/Buses: Over 11 million (not all are regulated) CMV Drivers: Approximately 6 million CMV Miles Driven: 295 Billion (2014)

Safety Oversight Facts: - FMCSA: 1100 Employees - State/Local Staff: 12,000 - CMV Inspections: 3.5 million - Compliance Reviews: 16,000 - Safety Audits: 38,000

At FMCSA, nearly all our efforts and resources focus on the carrier, the CMV, or the CMV driver… But what about CMV crashes where the non-CMV had the first harmful event and/or contribution to the crash?

1. Non-CMV Contribution (Missouri) 2. What did the non-CMV do that contributed to the crash? 3. Driver errors/actions require efforts to change driver behavior 4. How?
