Presentation transcript:

editing March 18, 2014 Objectives: So, the last time I taught, we talked about the organization and structure of a good persuasive essay. Today, however, we are not just writers, we are editors. Objectives: Discuss the importance of being “grammatical” Practice editing with proofreading marks

Quick-Write!

Grammar: the “rules” of a language revising: Making a piece of writing sound better with ideas, word choice, sentence fluency, and organization Editing: Making a piece of writing look better by making corrections in the mechanics of the writing (Spelling, punctuation, etc.) So the question is, should we live with no regrets in what we write or should we be more intentional and understand that we are judged by our writing, whether we intend to be or not?
