About Commodus Commodus was born in 161 CE, in a city called Lanuviuam which was located at southeast of Rome. He was the first emperor born while his father, Marcus Aurelius was still emperor, and he was the only son of Marcus to survive. His twin brother Titus died at a very young age. He co-ruled with his father, and Commodus returned to Rome and offered a peace agreement after his father’s death.

He and his father adventures *Commodus on his adventure with his father they had a battle with marcus (which was his fathers names) on the northern frontier on 178-179 C.E on 180 C.E he returned to rome and his dad died in the battle.

Commodus good and bad decisions * Good decision he had made is that he left power in the hands of others while devoting his time to other things * He let a minister to be killed by a mob * He relied on other people to rule the empire * These were some decisions when his father died at the battle in the northern frontier

Plots of assassination In 182 Commodus’s sister conspired with a group of senators to assassinate him. The plot failed he killed the senators who were in the plot. After this he ruled rome more strictly.

Commodus turning insane. He had his chief minister executed in order to show his army if you rebel against me thats going to happen. He allowed the minister’s successors to be killed in a riot crowd. Commodus starts turning crazy. He thought that he was a god like hercules entering the arena as a gladiator or killing lions with bow and arrows.

Another plot against Commodus. On December 31, 191, his advisers had him poisoned then strangled by a wrestler who was a champion.

Conclusion In conclusion, Commodus originally ruled with his father and took over as emperor after his father’s death. However, he relied on other people. Finally, some people though he was not a good ruler (he became insane) and turned against him. After his death, there was a debate to who can be the next emperor of Rome, but however, a civil war broke out.
