Origin & Nature of Christ Called Him John Compliment to anyone else Said He was a prophet Matthew 16:14; John 3:2; 4:19 More than a prophet – John 4:25,26 Called Joseph’s son Matthew 13:53-56; Luke 4:16-22 Why these mistakes? Looked on outward appearance Matthew 16:16,17

Purpose of Christ To be an earthly king Heal all the sick & feed the poor John 6:2, 11-15, 26 Could have healed all the sick & fed all the hungry. Why didn’t He? Came for far greater purpose Not to make poor rich but to save rich and poor Not to side with oppressed but to save guilty

Origin & Nature of church Say started by Alexander Campbell Say it is just another denomination Think should do as denominations do Why do people think this? Look on outward appearance We have building; regular services; distinctive teaching; etc. How know the truth? By what God has revealed – Matthew 16:17

Purpose of the church Think it should engage in social; recreational; political & community projects Most have nothing better to do; some even reject the Bible Has a far greater purpose 1 Timothy 3:15 Men look to what “flesh & blood” reveals rather than what God reveals

What Must I Do To Be Saved? Hear the gospel (Romans 10:17) Believe Jesus is Christ (Acts 8:37) Repent of your sins (Acts 17:30) Confess your faith (Matthew 10:32) Baptized for remission of sins (Acts 2:38) Faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10)
