Vocabulary List Five English One

consolidate Verb Means “to combine, unite” Consolidates, consolidated, consolidating Means “to combine, unite” The NBA consolidates their best athletes to dominate the Olympics.

entreat Verb Means “to beg or ask earnestly” Entreats, entreated, entreating Means “to beg or ask earnestly” If someone entreats you to come get “free candy” from their van, you should definitely decline.

fallible Adjective No other conjugations Means “capable of being wrong, mistaken, or inaccurate” Despite everything he tells you, Oneal is fallible.

fickle Adjective Means “changing frequently” No other conjugations Means “changing frequently” (especially with regards to one’s loyalties, interests, or affection) Because fashion is so fickle, I just wear the same clothes from high school because they will eventually come back in style.

maul Verb Means “to beat or knock about” or “to mangle” Mauls, mauled, mauling Means “to beat or knock about” or “to mangle” Unfortunately, this guy is going to eventually get mauled by these lions.

rural Adjective Means “relating to farm areas and life in the country” No other conjugations Means “relating to farm areas and life in the country” The Rural Juror film had so much potential, but no one could ever pronounce it’s name.

substantial Adjective Means “major, significant” Adverb: substantially Means “major, significant” Expecting a substantial raise, I upgraded my 2000 Honda Accord to a 2015 Ferrari 458.

tactful Adjective Adverb: tactfully Means “polite” or “skilled in handling difficult situation or people” A tactful approach is usually the wisest one to take with ogres.
