Minimize Both Internal And External Distractions Block out all other sounds and distractions like T.V.s, computers, and phones. And also move away from people that could distract you. Minimize Both Internal And External Distractions

Adjust Your Listening To The Situation Take notes and write things down to help you remember what you hear. Adjust Your Listening To The Situation

Show You’re Listening By Your Nonverbal Communication You might nod, shake your head, or raise your eyebrows. Adjust your posture accordingly. Make eye contact. Show You’re Listening By Your Nonverbal Communication

Remember The Important Things Repeat things you hear in your head or jot them down on paper so you don’t forget something. Remember The Important Things

When listening to a someone with a problem show that you understand what they are going through. Demonstrate Empathy

Save Advice For Another Time Realize that people don’t necessarily want you to solve their problem. They may simply want to share how they are feeling. Don’t give advice unless they ask for it. Save Advice For Another Time

Let the person finish what he is saying before you explain your point of view or ask questions. Don’t Interrupt
