key topics InterUsability: User Interface level interoperability of embedded systems. HCI for multiple mobile & fixed devices, multiple modalities and contexts, user models, profiles. Use case driven: hot industrial cases, attentive devices, collaborative systems, complex control systems. High visibility with demos. The Concrete Paradigm change achieved by SMARCOS: To Make connected devices appear to the user as one unified service or a user interface, not as separate systems.

Smart Composite Human-Computer Interfaces Work Structure WP4: Wellness, support for healthy lifestyles via sensored and situation aware devices WP5: Mobile devices + cloud services for smart context aware communities WP6: Aviation, process control, vehicles, systems for the disabled The horizontal WPs contribute the R&D content, technical solutions and concepting The vertical WPs contextualise the specific research and technology questions. They also provide platforms for evaluating the created solutions through experiments and trials. Copyright © 2010 Smarcos Smart Composite Human-Computer Interfaces

Smarcos Innovates and standardises SMARCOS Innovation push: Our WPs involve cases from major industrial partners.  We continuously validate their business relevance through numerous pilots, prototypes and trials. Through our partners’ significant market share and the power of open source communities we can gain significant traction to our solutions. SMARCOS Standardisation and Tool Platform ambitions: We seek to offer our results as open source whenever possible. Our partners have power to ensure de facto standards. We build a number of tools for UI modelling that will be made widely available. Copyright © 2010 Smarcos Smart Composite Human-Computer Interfaces 16
