JFK AIRPORT Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM) Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment (TALPA) Advisory Circular 150/5300-30D Changes

RCAM - Runway Condition Code (RwyCC) 6 – DRY 5 – FROST / WET / (1/8 inch or less) SLUSH / DRY SNOW / WET SNOW 4 – COMPACT SNOW colder than 5F 3 – SLIPPERY WHEN WET / DRY SNOW or WET SNOW OVER COMPACTED SNOW / 1/8 IN or GREATER of DRY SNOW or WET SNOW / COMPACT SNOW warmer than 5F 2 – Greater than 1/8 IN of WATER / SLUSH 1 – ICE 0 – WET ICE / SLUSH OVER ICE / WATER OVER COMPACTED SNOW / DRY SNOW or WET SNOW OVER ICE

PILOT REPORTS (No more FAIR) Good: Braking deceleration is normal for the wheel braking effort applied, and directional control is normal. Good-to-Medium: Braking deceleration or directional control is between good and medium braking action. Medium: Braking deceleration is noticeably reduced for the wheel braking effort applied, or directional control is noticeably reduced. Medium-to-Poor: Braking deceleration or directional control is between medium and poor. Poor: Braking deceleration is significantly reduced for the wheel braking effort applied, or directional control is significantly reduced. Nil: Braking deceleration is minimal to non-existent for the wheel braking effort applied, or directional control is uncertain.

Advisory Circular 150/5200-30D Changes RWY NOTAM only in the active direction Ex. 4R not 4R/22L NO FICON PATCHY now percentage Ex: 10% - 100%

Advisory Circular 150/5200-30D Changes RWY FICON will be in THIRDS when more than 25% coverage; which will generate a Runway Condition Code (RwyCC) TOUCHDOWN / MIDPOINT/ ROLLOUT NO FICON THIN must be in depth Ex: 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch

Conditions that Close Runways 1/2 IN SLUSH or WET SNOW 2 IN of DRY SNOW TWO CONSECTIVE PILOT REPORTS OF POOR RwyCC of 0

Reportable RWY Contaminates NO REPORTABLE DEPTH WET (water 1/8 inch depth or less) FROST COMPACTED SNOW ICE WET ICE Slippery when wet ASH OIL SAND MUD RUBBER (NO LONGER REPORTED)
