Sequencing: The Three Sequences Sequence 1 (four weeks) Three Short Assignments (SAs) One Major Paper (MP) Sequence 2 (four weeks) Two to three SAs One MP Sequence 3: The Portfolio (two weeks) Three to five “showcase pieces” Critical reflections

Scaffolding: Building Processes of Inquiry Why scaffold? Gives students a goal (the MP) Creates opportunities to practice the outcome skills along the way Focuses on the “zone of proximal development” - that sweet spot where learning happens How do I scaffold?
