Five Truths That Many Do Not Want to Think about Matthew 7:21-23 Title Slide: Five Truths That Many Do Not Want to Think About!(Matt.7:21-23)

Five Truths That Many Do Not Want to Think About NOT Everyone Will Be Saved - Matthew 7:21-23 Many Religious Folks Will Be Lost – Matthew 7:22,23 Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Be Saved – Matthew 7:21 “That Day” Is Coming – Matthew 7:22 The Words - “I Never Knew You, Depart” – Matthew 7:23 Some of the topics taught by Jesus in His great “Sermon on the Mount” people like to talk about… The Beatitudes (Matt.5:3-12) He came to fulfill, not destroy, the Law (Matt.5:17) Jesus teaching on prayer (Matt.9:9-15) Sadly, many refer to this as a “Model Prayer” and still recite it today. “Judge Not,” Matt.7:1—though most of the time it is taken out of its context!

Five Truths That Many Do Not Want to Think About Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?‘ And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'“ Our Text—Matt.7:21-23

Not Everyone Will Be Saved Matthew 7:21-23 God wants everyone to be saved – 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9 God has made provision so that everyone can be saved – John 3:16; Titus 2:11 Few will be saved – Matthew 7:13,14; 1 John 5:19 Not Everyone Will Be Saved—Matt.7:21-23. To be sure, God wants all men to be saved (1 Tim.2:4; 2 Pet.3:9) God has made provision so that everyone can be saved (Jno.3:16; Titus 2:11; Heb.2:14,15) But the truth is—few will be saved (Matt.7:13, 14; 1 Jno.5:19; 1 Pet.4:17)

Not Everyone Will Be Saved Matthew 7:21-23 Good Folks? Ephesians 2:8,9; Acts 10:1,2; John 8:24 Far-off, ignorant folks? Acts 17:30; Colossians 1:23 Relatives? Matthew 10:34-37; Luke 14:26 Not Everyone Will Be Saved—Matt.7:21-23. Good Folks? (Eph.2:8,9; Acts 10:1,2; Jno.8:24) Far off, ignorant folks? (Acts 17:30; Col.1:23; Mk.16:15,16; 2 Tim.2:4) Relatives? (Matthew 10:34-37; Lk.14:26)

Not Every Religious Person Will Be Saved Matthew 7:22,23 MANY who profess Jesus as Lord – Matthew 7:22,23; Luke 6:46 MANY who prophesied, cast out demons, and did many wonderful works – Matthew 7:22,23; Colossians 3:17 MANY who have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge – Romans 10:1-4 Not Every Religious Person Will Be Saved –Matt. 7:22,23. MANY who profess to know Jesus as Lord (Matt.7:22,23; Lk.6:46) MANY who prophesied, cast out demons, and did many work (Matt.7:22,23; Col.3:17) MANY who have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge (Rom.10:1-4).

Only Those Who DO the Will of the Father Will Be Saved Matthew 7:21-23 Must hear and obey Jesus – Matthew 7:24-27; James 1:22-25 Must obey the gospel of Christ – Acts 2:38; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 Must enter the straight gate and travel the narrow way – Matthew 7:13,14; John 14:6 Only Those Who DO the Will of the Father Will Be Saved–Mat. 7:21-23. Must hear and obey Jesus (Matt.17:5; 7:24-27; Jam.1:22-25; 2:14-26; Heb.5:8,9) Must obey the gospel of Christ (Mk.16:16; Acts 2:38; 2 Thess.1:7-9) Must enter the straight gate and travel the narrow way! (Matt.7:13,14; Jno.14:6; Col.3:5-8; 12-17).

That Day Is Coming! Matthew 7:22 Many will say unto Me in THAT DAY – Matthew 7:22; Acts 17:30-32 On THAT DAY there will be only two classes of people--SAVED and LOST– Matthew 25:31-46; Revelation 20:11-15 That Day Is Coming!–Mat. 7:22. Many will say unto Me in THAT DAY (7:22; Acts 17:30-32; 2 Pet.3:10-14; 2 Cor.5:10; 2 Thess.1:7-9) On THAT DAY there will be only two classes of people—SAVED and LOST! (Matt.25:31-46; Rev. 20:11-15) Every day, the Final Judgment grows closer for all of us—it is a certain day, Heb.9:27.

The Saddest Words Matthew 7:23 I never knew you (spoken to people who THOUGHT they were saved) – Proverbs 14:12; 2 Corinthians 13:5 Depart from Me – Matthew 25:31-46; Luke 13:27 You who practice lawlessness – Colossians 3:17; 2 John 9 The Saddest Words–Mat. 7:23. I never knew you (spoken to people who THOUGHT they were saved! (Prov.14:12; 2 Cor.13:5; 1 Jno.4:1) Depart from Me (Matt.25:31-46; Lk.13:27) You who practice lawlessness (Col.3:17; 2 Jno.9; 2 Thess.1:7-9) These are the saddest because they are the Lord’s final words and they signal the sinner’s doom …
