ABSENCES: HB 410 Districts in Ohio must track and report time missed for tardies and early dismissals

HABITUAL TRUANT Absent 30 or more consecutive hours without a legitimate excuse; Absent 42 or more hours in one school month without a legitimate excuse; Absent 72 or more hours in one school year without a legitimate excuse

EXCESSIVE ABSENCES Absent 38 or more hours in one school month with or without a legitimate excuse; Absent 65 or more hours in one school year with or without a legitimate excuse.

DRIVER LICENSE REVOCATION Absent 60 or more consecutive hours Absent 90 or more hours in one school year

1.Notify parent within 7 days of triggering absence 2.Student/family will follow plan set by district for absence intervention 3.Student and family maybe referred to community resources 4. Referral to Family and Children’s Services (educational neglect) or Juvenile Court (truant) if no progress in 61 days

Refers to ‘instructional time’ If doctor visit is required, please send verification with child or have doctor office FAX it to the school (216-227-5722) Vacations are not considered a ‘legitimate excuse’ We are mandated to begin reporting process
