Introduction Our assignment was to design a motor that would act as an elevator We realized that the best way to do this would involve using water as a counterweight Most of our supplies were found around the garage or yard
The Process Our process begins when the golf ball is released down the ramp into the cup A string pulls the quick release attached to a gate that pulls the truck forward That causes the truck’s bed to tilt Then the ball is dropped onto the mouse trap which pulls the stopper from the water bottle As the bucket drops, two smaller water bottles are lifted from the bucket to make it rise slower
Conclusion Our biggest struggle was to make the weight rise slow enough We met 4 times as a group Energy Conversions Bungee cord = .4 J Water = 17.2 J Golf balls = .4 J Our expenses totaled ~19$
