Born To Be Wild

The Wild Man Himself Christopher Johnson McCandless Alias: Alexander "Alex" McCandless/Supertramp Born February 12th, 1968 Was 22 when he left for his journey into the wilderness.

"Alaskan Odyssey" Began his Travels the end of June 1990 Carried limited supplies ( food and camping equipment) Wanted to live a simple life in the Alaskan Wilderness (aka Alaskan Odyssey) Living off the land, (hunting animals, foraging for plants & berries etc.) Wanted to be separated from society and civilization He wanted to find himself (he kept a journal to record his adventure) Wanted to be Alone (Think of Crabbe, how he wanted to be alone {until he found Mary}

End of the Road? August 1994, (Just 2 years after he reached his destination, and seeking shelter in an abandoned bus "Magic Bus") Chris was asked by many broadcasting companies for interviews of his journey, why he decided to live in the Alaskan Wilderness He refused any media attention, he did not want to be made into a spectacle. ABC News incessantly approached him for an interview. Chris's Response:

"Leave me the hell alone, this is why I left f-ing society behind!"

After this mishap Chris travelled deeper into the forest. Officials and Local Police reported him as a missing person, Later presumed dead, some theories were: - Died in the forest: Weather conditions and/or killed by a wild animal - Health problems: Accidentally ate dangerous food/plants Some campers have reported smoke coming from the "Magic Bus" and hollering from the Alaskan woods No other substantial evidence was found.

In Pop Culture A Book/Novel has been published by Jon Krakauer titled "Into The Wild" Film adaptation was released 2007 with the same title, directed by Sean Penn and Starring Emile Hirsch
