Accommodation, social events, pre-training High quality accommodation will be offered at subsidised prices for JWOC week. This is possible due to a local and regional support. Raulandshallen, with excellent facilities for social events including the banquet and the price giving ceremonies, will be the event centre. Rauland is a centre for Norwegian and local culture with higher education on folk arts, and this will be visible for competitors and spectators. Trainings with several length options and on different maps will be offered for pre-training. Altogether the trainings will be relevant for all JWOC events. Inexpensive accommodation will be offered for training camps. Ambassadors The best orienteering couple in the world; Anders Nordberg and Anne Margrethe Hausken regularly train in the area and will be marketing ambassadors for the event. Transport, fees, distances All local and regional transport to the closest train stations and airports will be included in the JWOC entrance fee. The fee will be as low as comparative JWOC events, e.g. in Denmark 2010. This low-price guarantee is possible due to a unique agreement with local authorities. Rauland has bus connection to train stations and airports in the region. Distances: Oslo 200 km; Torp airport-Sandefjord 200 km; Porsgrunn 155 km From Torp airport (www.torp.no) you can travel inexpensively to most European countries with SAS/Widerøe, KLM, Ryanair and WizzAir. Spectator races Sørlandsgaloppen, the first multi-day orienteering event in the world (organised yearly since 1965) will be spectator races during the JWOC. More than 2000 participants are realistic. Organisers The Norwegian Orienteering Federation will organise the event together with local clubs Porsgrunn OL and IL Dyre Vaa. Norway, despite being a leading orienteering nation, has never hosted JWOC before. Key persons in the organising team have extensive and recent experience from internationals elite competitions including championships: Nordic Orienteering Championship 2005; Norwegian Championships 2001/08/09; International events 2001/03/07/11.
