Presentation transcript:

monday, 22 january 2018 Pre-AP English ii Mr. sanders WELCOME! Have a sheet of paper ready to write. Be thinking about ways you like to “escape” from stresses, responsibilities, etc. monday, 22 january 2018 Pre-AP English ii Mr. sanders TODAY’S OBJECTIVE: STUDENTS WILL PREPARE TO READ FAHRENHEIT 451 BY RAY BRADBURY.

Write… What stresses do people have in our society? What stresses do you have in your own life? Write for three minutes without stopping and without talking. This may be stressful for you. ;^o Let’s discuss what we wrote. Now, draw a picture showing ways you or other people escape, ways people deal with the pressures of life. How do advertisers take advantage of our need to relax, our need to "escape“? What happens when people go too far in their escapes-- when their minds and/or bodies go "on holiday" too long?

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury We are preparing to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. We will have a Study Guide for each reading section; Vocabulary to help with reading each section; and Extra Activities to use when you finish reading assignments or class work (for credit).

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury You will be assigned a copy to take home with you for this unit. Please take good care of it. Almost everyone of you took excellent care of the Night books, and I’m so proud of the mature way you handled these books. Please do the same with this one. Thank you!
