Conference on guidance for adults ráR The New Skills Agenda Conference on guidance for adults November 9 2016 Dóra Stefánsdóttir RANNÍS dora.stefansdottir@rannis.is WELCOME TO ERASMUS+ Let’s take a look at what the Erasmus+ programme is all about, and what’s in it for education, training, youth and sport with a few key facts.

Why a new skills agenda? 1/5 adults in Europe have minimum or rudimentary literacy or numeracy 2/5 citizens have low level or no digital skills 1/4 adults lack upper secondary education Average participation rate in any kind of adult learning 10.7% Only 3.6 of adults who left school without a certificate got a second chance.

What is it? Initiatives to ensure that people get the right training, developing the skills needed in the labour market. Right training for the young Retraining for the older Increased emphasis on digital skills Making sure that available skills are used better: the skills guarantee Integration / cooperation of several European initiatives: Europass, Euroguidance, EQF, ESCO and EURES

How does it concern you? Counsellors and others working with adults will be extremely valuable for: Assisting with the assessments of informal and non-formal learning Guiding adults who wish to improve their opportunities in the labour market Working with national/regional authorities to ensure lifelong guidance

Possible projects Validation of prior learning New educational possibilities for adults New/changed guidance services for adults Utilisations of social media or other electronic possibilities Proposed new online e-portfolio (Commission) + European databases on jobs profiles, learning opportunities and qualifications Special initiatives for vulnerable groups (unemployed, immigrants, prisoners…)
