Prepare for your functional skills exam

Course aims Discuss 1 Revise 2 Complete 3

Maximise your marks Work in a group of two or three. It doesn’t matter what level you are working towards. Talk about the strategies you use to make sure you get the highest marks possible.

Maximise your marks Watch the video. The teacher gives six tips for passing your functional maths exams. Make a list of the tips as you watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8O_QP2kd1g

What do you think? Did you discuss the same ideas? Are there any more ideas you talked about in your groups? Another video is available at http://www.forskills.co.uk/exam-tips-mathematics/

You Tube your maths You tube can be a very useful tool for revising for your exam because: You can watch instead of reading (or sometimes both) which may help you to remember it better You can stop the video at any time and play it as many times as you want

You Tube your maths - tips Search for “Functional skills maths exam tips” for more videos like this one. Search for a topic, for example, ratio. Try typing in “functional skills ratio Level …” to be sure you are getting information at the right level

Other websites to try BBC Skillswise (Level 1) BBS Bitesize Maths is fun Use your green book!
