Important Information The children will complete the tests in the week beginning 7th May and on 21st May. They will be told they are having a ‘special’ assessment week. The tests are only one part of the assessment process. Teacher assessment is used to report children’s attainment and progress to parents. Evidence of the work a child completes daily is extremely important! You will also receive a teacher assessment judgement for science, but there is no science test.
How you can help… Ensure your child’s attendance is good. Encourage your child to complete his/her homework. Hear your child read regularly and discuss the plot and characters. Record reading in Reading Planner. Make sure that your child knows his/her number bonds to 20, and 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
How you can help… Make sure that your child is learning their weekly spellings and using the words in exciting sentences. Revise previous spellings. Ensure your child can spell all 100 high frequency words and are spelling these correctly in any of their work. Give your child any other opportunities for reading, writing and maths. E.g. writing a shopping list; reading any other books/magazines; adding money when shopping etc.
