English Reading One hour to read and answer questions Questions increase in level of difficulty Three texts Children are familiar with the type of test previously given, although as this year’s tests are on the new curriculum we can only predict what we think they will be like. We have seen a sample test and are basing our assumptions on this.
Emphasis on technical terms Paper one – 45 minutes Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling Emphasis on technical terms Paper one – 45 minutes Paper two – approx 15 minutes, 20 spellings Again, the children are having practise of the type of test we believe they will be given.
Maths 3 papers Arithmetic – 30 minutes (+ - x / ) Reasoning – 40 minutes each paper Specific methods required The mental maths test is replaced by an arithmetic test. Please see Miss Purkis if you have any questions about the specified methods of calculation the children must use.
Scaled Scores A scaled score of 100 will always represent the “expected standard” Your child’s raw score will be converted to a scaled score using a conversion table You will receive the raw score, a scaled score and confirmation of whether they attained the expected standard You can expect to receive this information towards the middle of July.
Test Administration All tests will be administered in accordance with STA (Standards & Testing Agency) guidance Tests must take place on nominated day School can decide on time H/T can apply for a variation if a child is absent, however this isn’t automatic Monitoring visits from LA or STA
Teacher Assessment Only focus for writing assessment Also TA for reading, maths, science Based on performance in variety of contexts Your child’s teacher is continually assessing against the Interim framework as required.
