Poetry 6 Date: List Poetry Learning Objectives To read and create list poetry. To improve our rhyming creation capabilities.

Rhyming Challange As a warm up task, choose any person, place or thing and come up with as many rhyming words as possible for it.

Notes Nouns: A person, place or thing. It is a name or identity. Repetition: Doing something many times for a powerful effect. Vowel: The sound of A,E, I, O and U. Consonant: A non-vowal sound

Exercise One Teams of two, create something new, Use what’s below, and things that you know. My Shopping List My mother said, “Go buy some bread,” but this is what I got instead. (Your list – aim for more than10 lines, 5 rhymes) When mother needs things from the store She never sends me anymore.

Homework I went to the doctor. He x-rayed my head. He stared for a moment and here’s what he said. I see a .... (Your list – aim for more than10 lines, 5 rhymes) with all of the junk that you have in your head it’s kind of amazing you got out of bed.

Poetry 7 Date: Alliteration Poetry Learning Objectives To read and create a different form of list poetry, an alliteration list poem.

In exercise copy, write down: A noun, a verb and an adjective all starting with the same letter. Do this for four letters.

Notes Alliteration: The repetition of a consonant at the beginning of neighbouring words. Consonance: The repetition of consonants in words. Assonance: The repetition of vowels in words.

Best Examples – Tongue Twisters. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers How many pickled peppers did Peter Piper How much wood would a woodchuck chuck If a woodchuck would chuck wood? A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck If a woodchuck would chuck wood. Pick?

Exercise One Create an alliteration poem called ‘What I see’ where you list off things you see. You can only use each letter once for alliteration. Bonus points to whomever can get 26 lines finished. Ready.... Set..... GOOOOO!

Homework Make sure that poem is finished for next day.
