Persuasive Techniques Review Identify the persuasive technique used in the following examples: Scenario: A parent is trying to convince her child to spend more time on homework. Argument: If you don’t spend more time on your homework and studies, you may risk failing the class. When you spent time studying for your English test last month, you earned an A. When you avoided studying for your most recent test on Friday, you earned a D. Clearly, spending your time reviewing pays off! Technique(s) used: Appeal to Logic Appeal to Fear

Argument: None of our other teachers gave us homework for the long weekend. They know that many students feel overwhelmed by all of the state testing and that we need a break.
