Unit 2 性格与行为特征

话题教学词汇表 2

Step I: 主话题Brainstorm—网络化回顾词汇 学生:上台演示 (画图、提问) 教师:总结补充

Examples in fiction People like Legolas tend to be quiet and reserved, and difficult to get to know well. They hold back their ideas and opinions except from those who they are closest to. They are likely to be kind, gentle and sensitive in their dealings with others. They're original and independent, and need to have personal space.

Examples in fiction People like Frodo are generally thoughtful and considerate. They are good listeners and put people at ease. Although they may be reserved in expressing feelings, they are truly interested in understanding people. They are usually flexible and gentle, but when one of their values is violated, they can become aggressive, fighting passionately for their cause. They are usually talented writers. They may be awkward and uncomfortable with expressing themselves verbally, but have a wonderful ability to express what they're feeling on paper.

personality, ability, attitude Example in real life personality, ability, attitude As an intelligent and famous scientist, Albert Einstein had a pleasant personality and was much respected for his friendly manner. He was modest about his abilities, and had distinctive attitudes and fashions — for example, he minimized his wardrobe so that he would not need to waste time in deciding on what to wear. He occasionally had a playful sense of humor, and enjoyed sailing and playing the violin. He was also the stereotypical (老一套的) “absent-minded professor”; he was often forgetful of everyday items, such as keys and would focus so attentively on solving physics problems that he would often become unaware of his surroundings. In his later years, his appearance created (or reflected) another stereotype of scientist in the process: the researcher.

quality, behaviour Abdul is a fireman. He is very courageous. He rescues people from fires. Jerry is very reliable. You can always depend on him to keep his promises. My brother is really hard-working. He hardly ever takes a day off. Phillip is very mean. He never pays for his share of things. Jeremy is very selfish. He never helps out with the housework. My neighbour brought me flowers when I was in hospital — that was considerate of him. He's a thoughtful person and won't do anything unless he has considered the consequences. 注:以上各句还可做成根据语境选词填空或给出首字母填空的练习
