Wages Based on Race, Gender By: Chris Howard

Thesis Across all types of the work, men are on average making 20% higher wages than women, and whites are paid significantly higher than their hispanic and black counterparts for the same jobs.

Types of data I will use Review workplace ethical guide lines Case studies Court cases The progression of changes in guidelines

Possible Sources History books Internet Census data Large company’s policies http://www.unfpa.org/swp/2005/presskit/factsheets/facts_gender.htm

Visually display data Graphs Tables Timelines

Example Table Median Weekly Wages Male Female White $694 $521 Black $518 $451 Hispanic $438 $385

Frame argument from data The standards for workplace equality have been raised over the last 50 years, but they are still not adequate for a powerful nation. Why? Will bring country down.

Conclusions Everyone deserves equal rights Not equal presently U.S. has higher standards than most countries Will make country stronger if obtained Jobs given to best skilled, not based on race or gender
