Compound Sentences: 2 independent clauses (subjects and verbs) Combo 1 Combo 2 Combo 3 Independent Clause [Comma + Coordinating Conjunction] Independent Clause (IC , CC IC) A comma is NEVER strong enough to combine to sentences alone, so a conjunction must be used with it. Don’t combine them at all. Keep them separated with a period. (IC .
