Los Demonstrativos In English the demonstrative adjectives are “this” , “these”, “those”, and “that” . You use demonstratives to point out something or someone that is far from both you and the person you are speaking to. In Spanish there are 3 different forms of demonstrative adjectives instead of 2 like in English
Los Demonstrativos “este” or “esta” means the same as “this” “ese” or “esa” means the same as “that” “aquel” or “aquella” means the same as “that one way over there”
Los Demonstrativos Demonstratives must agree in NUMBER and GENDER with the noun that follows them. Therefore they have singular and plural forms Singular Plural este, esta: this estos, estas: these ese, esa: that esos, esas: those aquel, aquella: that one over there aquellos, aquellas: those over there
Los Demonstrativos You use “este” or “esta” to talk about things closest to you You use “ese” or “esa” to talk about things somewhat far from you. You use “aquel” or “aquella” to talk about things really far from you.
